Connection
I feel its heart
a living creature
mapped in my hands
I move through it as a blood cell
it carries me
down through its major arteries
I squeeze through a back street
capillary
inching along a dusty dirt road
in search of a feeling
of connection
these veins
sprung of
our body earth
earth that grew us
earth that formed our mind
the earth which we are bound to
as its workers
and in our dreams
our earth voice
we hear
telling us of our connection
but we awaken and
only a dim distorted shadow of the voice remains
behind the chatter
a yearning
to be connected
we construct our black veins stretching across our body
at all cost
to the next town
to the neighboring countries
to the amusement park
to the forrest
the city
over the ocean and to the mall
and anywhere else we can
such that we might find our connection
and realize what our voice is speaking of
when it tells us we are one
