The Puzzle (7\/25\/96)<\/h3>\n

Open the doors and the windows,<\/p>\n

wait<\/p>\n

for your love under the moon.<\/p>\n

Again, wait.<\/p>\n

Falling through in motion the lost puzzle pieces be found.<\/p>\n

\n

Arrive on wing or by foot.<\/p>\n

\n

Wait, do not wait?<\/p>\n

Wait.<\/p>\n

Breath.<\/p>\n

Slowly blink,<\/p>\n

free yourself from the wall, that shadow of yourself which whispers<\/p>\n

“do not expect these worlds, or continents and countries, or cities,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

or even the small pretty flowers to be for you.<\/p>\n

\n

\n

A pile of burned sulfur matches<\/p>\n

litters vainly in your shadow<\/p>\n

the old candle melted blue and carbon stained.<\/p>\n

Its frozen flows caking the round table at the center of an eclipse.<\/p>\n

\n

\n

Burned out without wick to burn<\/p>\n

the fire has long since gone,<\/p>\n

and know against that wall there is only your shadow,<\/p>\n

and in the shadow hopeless\u2026<\/p>\n

there,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

over the mountains\u2013now too high to traverse\u2013<\/p>\n

and beyond the dessert\u2013now to hot to cross\u2013<\/p>\n

across the wave torn ocean\u2013not swimmable.<\/p>\n

\n

The poles with their heatless icecaps<\/p>\n

that freeze all but the heartiest that dare approach\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

them<\/p>\n

and especially<\/p>\n

that<\/p>\n

star at the edge of the universe<\/p>\n

which just can no longer be touched.<\/p>\n

\n

And again, that space at my center which can not be filled<\/p>\n

or the pieces be found,<\/p>\n

timeless.<\/p>\n

Now there is no time.<\/p>\n

\n

In the wall find the doors and the windows,<\/p>\n

open them,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

and wait under the moonlight.<\/p>\n

In the space of insight and patience wait\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

here.<\/p>\n

\n

Fly in puzzle pieces!<\/p>\n

They settle one-by-one toward completeness,<\/p>\n

now that the big picture it forms is able to reveal it’s\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

love.<\/p>\n
